How do I measure my collar?

Measurement Instructions for Current Collar:

Do you currently have a well-fitting collar for your dog? Follow these steps to determine the correct size:

Collar with Buckle Closure:

  • Lay your current collar flat.
  • Measure the length of the collar, excluding the buckle, to the hole you always use.
  • This length represents the neck circumference and will help you choose your new BySjezz® collar.

Collar with Snap Closure:

  • Lay your current collar flat.
  • Measure the length of the collar, excluding both buckles.
  • This length is the neck circumference that you can use to select your new BySjezz® collar.

Neck circumference Measurement:

  • Take the part of the neck where you want the new collar.
  • Use a flexible measuring tape and measure your dog's neck circumference by holding the tape snugly around the neck, not too loose and not too tight.

Width dimensions:

Determine the suitable width size for your dog:

  • Extra Small - 16mm wide - 20-30cm (8 - 12") - Suitable for Chihuahua, Malthezer, Toy Poodle.
  • Small - 16mm wide - 25-35cm (10-14") - Suitable for French bulldog, jack russel.
  • Medium - 20mm wide - 30-40cm (12-16") - Suitable for cocker spaniel, beagle, stafford.
  • Large - 25mm wide - 38-50cm (15-20") - Suitable for boxer, labrador, border collie.
  • Extra Large – 25mm wide – 48-60cm (19”-24”) - Suitable for golden retriever, German shepherd, doberman.

For Puppies:

If you have or are expecting a puppy, determine the correct size based on the dog breed:

  • Small breeds (e.g. Dachshund): Choose XS or S with a width of 16mm (possibly with 2 extra holes).
  • Medium/large breeds (e.g. Labrador, Vizsla, Australian Shephard): Choose S with a width of 19mm (possibly with 2 extra holes).

Which width dog leash is suitable for your dog? Discover the optimal choice with BySjezz® BioThane lines, available in 3 width sizes:

  • 16mm: Ideal for puppies, toy breeds, and small breeds.
  • 20mm: Suitable for all breeds.
  • 25mm: Recommended for stronger and large breeds.

When ordering, we ask for the breed and weight of your dog, so that we can verify whether the chosen width is appropriate. Remember that a wider line can also be heavier. Each BySjezz® dog leash shows available widths, so you can make the perfect choice.

Dog leash length:

The length of a dog leash is personal and depends on you and your dog. Dog schools may have specific requirements for training purposes. Inquire about this at your dog school. Choose from various lengths, ranging from 1 meter to 30 meters:

  • Regular dog leashes are often 120 cm or 150 cm.
  • Adjustable, also called hands-free belts, are popular from 200 cm or 250 cm.
  • Long lines are often chosen in lengths of 10m, 12m or 15m.

If you want your dog to have more sniffing space, consider a longer leash.

Puppies:

For puppies, the correct size leash depends on the dog breed:

  • Small breeds such as a Dachshund puppy need a lighter leash in a width of 16mm.
  • For example, for a Labrador, Vizsla or Australian Shephard puppy, it is best to choose a width of 20mm.

When ordering, please mention that you have or are expecting a puppy. We ensure that the carabiner is suitable for your puppy, not too heavy or too light. As your dog gets older and heavier, you may consider switching to a heavier leash.

BioThane® is an innovative material from the United States and serves as an animal-friendly alternative to traditional materials such as leather or nylon, mainly used for collars and leashes. It consists of a strong layer of nylon webbing with a protective plastic coating, available in various trendy colors.
All BySjezz® products are made from the original BioThane® Beta variant. This variant comes closest to leather in terms of 'handfeel' and suppleness, making it particularly popular among vegans and non-leather users.

How Do You Maintain Your Collar and/or Leash for Long Lasting Beauty?

Whether you regularly go to the beach or forest, or just walk in the city, here are some simple steps to ensure that your BySjezz collar and/or leash stay beautiful:

General maintenance:

  • When walking on the beach or in the forest: Contact with sand and seawater may reduce the lifespan of the accessories and BioThane. In urban environments, your collar or leash will retain its beauty for longer.

BioThane Maintenance:

Do you want to quickly clean your BioThane collar or leash?

  • Take a damp/wet cloth and rub off all the dirt.
  • Dry your leash, collar or long line with a dry cloth.
  • FINISHED! You can immediately use your BySjezz leash, collar or leash again for the next walk.

Has your BioThane leash/collar or leash become very dirty? Then follow these steps:

  • Hold the leash or collar briefly under the tap and rinse off the dirt.
  • In case of serious contamination: Use a washing-up brush for thorough cleaning.
  • If necessary, clean with mild soap.
  • Rinse with water.
  • Then dry with a clean and dry cloth.
  • FINISHED! You can now use your BySjezz leash, collar or leash again for the next walk.

Do you want them to stay beautiful longer? After every walk, rinse the collar or leash under the tap and dry with a towel.

Please note: Our BySjezz® collars and leashes should not be placed in the dishwasher.

What are the properties of the hardware?

General maintenance:

  • When walking on the beach or in the forest: Contact with sand and seawater may reduce the lifespan of the hardware. Silver accessories generally last longer and are recommended for beach visits.

Maintenance per Color:

  • Black: The black color has a coating and can wear off with use, revealing the zinc color.
  • Gold (Brass): Stainless, brass hardware becomes more authentic in color over time.
  • Chrome: not scratch-resistant and rust-free, remains beautiful for a long time
  • Stainless steel: durable and strong, rust-free
  • Antique Bronze: not scratch-resistant, not stainless
  • Rose gold: not scratch-resistant, not stainless

Maintenance tips:

  • After your walk, rinse the collar or leash under the tap and dry it with a towel to preserve the hardware.

BySjezz® strives to make and ship orders within 2 working weeks. Shipping usually takes about 2 business days. Urgent orders can be discussed.

Postage costs

Free shipping within Belgium for orders over 90 euros. Shipping costs are 5.95 euros for orders under 90 euros within Belgium and 11.95 euros to other countries outside Belgium.

Customers receive a track & trace if they have provided their email address. Preference is given to shipping with letterbox packages.
